2018 The Block festival ANNOUNCES CALL FOR ENTRIES
Wednesday, March 21, 2018
LOGAN, UT – Organizers of The Block festival (held September 28-29, 2018) — incorporating the 7th year of the annual Logan Film Festival — are excited to open submissions for all categories including features, shorts, documentaries, animations, exhibits, and installations.
Submissions are open right now. Filmmakers may enter their films digitally or by mail, with links to Filmfreeway, Withoutabox, or a mail-in form found at www.theblockfestival.org.
Films must be received by July 31st, 2018 to be considered. Shorts are considered films with a run time of 45 minutes or less, while features are films longer than 45 minutes. Student films of all lengths and categories are acceptable, and students attending high school or university are eligible for a 40% discounted submission fee. Additionally, filmmakers within a 350 mile radius of Logan, encompassing all of Utah and parts of Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, and Nevada, qualify for the discounted entry fee by using the online code UTAHN18 and providing a proof of residency.
Worldwide professional and amateur filmmakers, working in any aesthetic discipline including narrative, documentary, animation, experimental, and exhibit or installation work, are welcome.
All films programmed will receive official selection recognitions, and are screened in a non-competitive environment. The Block strongly emphasizes creating an extraordinary experience for festival goers and artists alike, and in support of this goal, requests that films selected represent their film at the event. Attendance by at least one filmmaker involved with each film is highly encouraged, or secondarily, a remote online audience Q&A session after the screening can be arranged.
The Block hosts corresponding Art, Music, and Learn programmes alongside the Film programme. Artists, musicians, educators, and performers interested in participating in these programmes may get in contact with the The Block team at firstname.lastname@example.org.

About The Block festival
The Block festival is an intimate celebration of independent vision and artistic expression that is produced annually on a volunteer basis by working professionals in creative fields. A unique experience for Utah, The Block combines four major event categories ― Film, Art, Music, and Learn. This programme structure involves collaborating with residents, K-12 schools, university students and faculty, and local businesses. Together, these communities transform Logan’s Historic Theater District into a community venue for art, empowering artists, inspiring creativity, and promoting tourism and recreation in Cache County.
